Office of
the President
One Smallwood Avenue, Belleville, NJ 07109.
Welcome
to the New Jersey Deputy Fire Chiefs Association Web Site. It is our
seventeenth year as one of the most active Fire Organizations in the State
of
New Jersey
. Our work
addresses Safety, Education, and Training for the Firefighters and the
people in our state. We have been successful in having legislation work its
way through the Legislature and having it signed by the sitting governors during
their term's of office. One of those bills is the Statewide Incident Command
Law. This bill included the certification and training of Fire Instructors
throughout the State of
New Jersey
.
We also spearheaded legislation approving
New Jersey
task Force One,
Urban Search and Rescue Team, and the development and implementation of FAST
Teams throughout the State of
New Jersey
. We were
successful in having a statute law passed to include Chief Officers in the
Mutual-Aid Response Program. Former
Governor McGreevey signed the "Fire Service Emergency Deployment
Act," A-1775, which requires Chief Officers to be assigned in the
Counties
Mutual-Aid
Response
Center
. We were the
lead Fire Service Organization in the State of
New Jersey
to baby-sit this
legislation and have it signed into law.
Our Association also took a leadership role in the establishment of
regulations for a mandatory statewide, Common Personnel Accountability
System for
New Jersey
's Fire Service.
During the year 2003, we worked to establish a Statewide Marine Firefighting
Task Force that would be fully funded by the federal government. In
addition, one of our goals for 2005-2006 is to develop support programs, on
a county or regionalized basis, for the Incident Commander during Mutual Aid
Fires. We believe this will improve the fire ground safety of the
Firefighter, and give the Incident Commander the tools they require to
complete their mission.
Please check our web site often to find out what is occurring in
New Jersey
’s Fire
Service. You can contact us
